Our projects

Project regulations

In addition to the further development of a European Lions Union, the main objective of the ALC is the promotion of joint projects with social and humanitarian content, which are primarily initiated by the clubs of our member districts.

The income from contributions from the member districts and third parties, from remuneration on the basis of contracts and any other income that contributes to increasing activities is used for this purpose

To this end, the member districts have agreed on the following procedure:

  • each member district can propose its own project to the Board each year. If this project is accepted, this district cannot propose a new project in the following year
  • the projects are not limited to the Alpine region
  • the criteria for selecting a project are basically the same as those of Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF)
  • the projects are mainly realised with financial means.
  • the proposals must be accompanied by a detailed cost breakdown. A comprehensible and realisable concept for raising the necessary funds to cover the project costs must be demonstrate
  • member districts submit the proposal of their choice to the ALC Secretary 60 days prior to the annual Board meetin
  • each proposal submitted must be presented by the district at the Board meeting. Additional representatives from the district are also permitted
  • the proposing district is then responsible to ALC for the realisation of its project and is held accountable after the project has been completed

Any remaining funds are invested in a separate reserve fund. Under no circumstances may a Lions club member’s contribution to ALC for a project be used for ALC’s administrative or business needs.
